Water Storage
This tank system represents the ultimate solution for storage of all liquids. The construction is based on a round metal shell of Galvalume, corrugated sheets which is sealed inside by a custom made, plastic lining.
This tank system is designed for easy, global installation and intended for storage of drinking water, irrigation water, rainwater, rural and industrial wastewater as well as manure and sludge. The profile wall of the tank has been designed with
The plates are connected by means of bolts, nuts and washers. Thanks to its light weight and simplified construction, only a few people are needed to assemble PROSPEXtank LIQUID SILO systems - even up to a diameter of 30 meters and a height of 6 meters - in a quick build time. Special lifting equipment or tools are not necessary.
Dimension of Tank plates
The special feature of PROSPEXtank SILO system is the size of the tank plates (2300 mm x 820 mm). This makes loading and unloading of tank plates much simpler. During installation, these small plates are so much easier to work with due to their light-weightless.
Construction of the tank
All tank plates are connected by bolts, nuts and washers (M8/M12). These steel bolt sets are fitted on the external wall with a special, eco-friendly and rust-resistant coating, called GEOMET.
During the first phase of assembly, all bolts tightened manually. After the entire construction is complete, all bolts should be tightened using a powered screwdriver to a pointspan of 20-30 Nm.
Efficient use of materials
Conventional metal tank systems use plates with a thickness of 4-8 mm. By applying the wave profile design and varying the wall thickness, the PROSPEXtank LIQUID SILO system provides comparable tensile strengths at just 0.8 and 2.0 mm.
Because of these well-designed material PROSPEXtank systems provides a cheap and simple solution for the storage of liquids.
Tanks strength
The calculation of tensile strength of PROSPEXtank LIQUID SILO is based on BS 6770 and BS6773 standards and the German ENV 1993 standard. These calculations are available per tank in print version. The round shape of the tank provides extra strength to the structure. All other influences such as wind, vertical pressure on the tank wall, etc. are disregarded.
Furthermore, our tank systems have been through an earthquake simulation tested. These tests showed that against an average force of earthquake PROSPEXtank LIQUID SILO systems remained intact.
All tank panels have a Aluminum zinc coating of 150gsm. Depending on the atmosphere surrounding the tank and the location, the life expectancy is typically between 20 and 30 years. For a longer life we recommend our tanks with the coated plates.
In recent years we have designed special containers for a wide range of applications including industry, agriculture, aggregates, water treatment and water storage. These tanks are made of special custom plates and specially designed tank covers and linings.
Pre-coating (2-layer technique)
For longer life, less maintenance and even better harmony with the environment, our plates are provided with a factory applied coating. By default, a special Thermo Vinyl coated (RAL 6009, dark green), with a thickness of 200 μm on both side. For special applications, other coatings are technically possible. This ensures that the protective zinc layer remains in optimum condition with no noticeable signs of decay. This unique system extends the life span of the tank by many years.
The salt spray test is a standardized test method for measuring the corrosion resistance of coated materials tested. A saline solution (typically 5% NaCl) is sprayed on the sample so that an aggressive dense, salty fog in the chamber occurs and the sample is exposed to highly corrosive conditions.
The Kesternich test was designed to mimic an industrial environment. During this test, the sample is exposed to an air mixture of water vapor and sulfur dioxide over a period of 24 hours (1 cycle). Then the extent of corrosion can be determined.
